r3d100012899 MODES Modal view of atmospheric circulation http://modes.fmf.uni-lj.si MODES focuses on the representation of the inertio-gravity circulation in numerical weather prediction models, reanalyses, ensemble prediction systems and climate simulations. The project methodology relies on the decomposition of global circulation in terms of 3D orthogonal normal-mode functions. It allows quantification of the role of inertio-gravity waves in atmospheric varibility across the whole spectrum of resolved spatial and temporal scales. MODES is compiled by using gfortran although other options have been succesfully tested. The application requires the use of the netcdf and (optionally) grib-api libraries. fizika@fmf.uni-lj.si institutional eng 3 Natural Sciences 313 Atmospheric Science and Oceanography 31301 Atmospheric Science 34 Geosciences (including Geography) https://www.uni-lj.si/research_and_development/ Images Scientific and statistical data formats Software applications Standard office documents dataProvider Kelvin wave energetics circulation maps hovmöller diagrams polar maps tropical zonal winds European Commission, Research & Innovation, Seventh Framework Programm - FP7 FP7 EEC funding non-profit https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/280153 2011 2016 University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics SVN general non-profit https://www.uni-lj.si/study/bachelor/fmf/ fizika@fmf.uni-lj.si matematika@fmf.uni-lj.si open restricted registration Public Domain http://modes.fmf.uni-lj.si closed other none https://www.geosci-model-dev.net/8/1169/2015/gmd-8-1169-2015.html unknown unknown 2018-11-15 2021-08-24
