UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage Sites are places or buildings of outstanding universal value. UNESCO's World Heritage mission is to encourage countries to ensure the protection of their own natural and cultural heritage.
Wales has three World Heritage Sites, the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd, the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
All planning enquiries that may effect a World Heritage Site, its setting or significant view should be directed to Cadw.
The World Heritage Sites dataset comprises 4 ESRI Shapefiles, these are:-
1: World Heritage Sites (WHS)
2: Essential Setting (ES)
3: Significant View (SV)
4: Arcs of View (AV)
